Migrating an existing WOW Station

The existing connection between your station and WOW will be discontinued at the beginning of 2026, and stations will need to be re-registered on the RMI platform. The protocol that stations use to send data to the RMI platform remains the same as before, so there is no change in that respect.

Updating the "endpoint"

The migration described below requires changing the upload “endpoint” (Step 2). The “endpoint” is the URL used to send data to the platform. Please note that this adjustment may not be possible for every station!

Migrating an existing WOW station to the new platform is done in four steps:

Step 1: Register your station on WOW-BE

To re-register your station, first create an account at https://wow.meteo.be/web/login, then register your station. After registration, you will receive an email with a new station ID (short and long version) and your chosen authentication key (replacing the old six-digit PIN).

Step 2: Update the “endpoint”

This is a crucial step in the migration. The upload endpoint changes from:
http://wow.metoffice.gov.uk/automaticreading?
to
http://wow.meteo.be/api/v2/send?

Locate the old URL in your software and replace it with the new one.

Step 3: Update your station data

When you re-registered your station (Step 1), you received a station ID (short and long version) and a self-chosen authentication key. These are now your new credentials for identifying your station on the WOW platform. For the ID, you can choose either the long or the convenient short version.

Step 4: Check the connection

You can immediately verify in your personal dashboard whether data is being transmitted. Your station should appear on the new map a few minutes later.
