“WOW-BE ready” station

"WOW-BE ready" station
A “WOW-BE ready” station is a station with an interface (app or web) that:

  • allows a “custom upload”
  • Supports one of the following protocols
    • WOW-UK upload protocol
    • Weather Underground protocol
    • Ecowitt protocol

Several of these stations are currently available on the market. Current examples include:

  • Eurochron EFWS2900 (with WS View or WS View Plus app)
  • Garni 940 (with WS View or WS View Plus app)
  • Alecto 5500 (with WS View or WS View Plus app)
  • Ecowitt stations with internet connection (with Ecowitt app)

Do you have a different station that is not on this list but that you were able to connect to WOW-BE reboot? Please let us know via the contact form, and we will add it to the list!

Step 1: Register your station on WOW-BE

Each station must first be registered on WOW-BE. To do this, create an account at https://wow.meteo.be/web/, log in, and select “Register a station” from the left-hand menu. After registration, you will receive an email with your station ID (short and long version) and the authentication key you chose.

Step 2: Configure a “WOW-BE ready” station

In the app you used to configure your station, look for the option to define a custom upload. This is sometimes called “DIY Upload Servers.” Select “Customized” from the list of servers.

In some configurations, you may also be asked for an upload interval. We recommend setting this to 1 minute. Depending on the protocol you choose, you will need to fill in several fields:

Protocol: Same As Wunderground

  • Server IP / Host Name: wow.meteo.be
  • Path: /api/v2/send?
  • ID: the short ID you received in the email after registering your station
  • Key: the authentication key you chose during station registration
  • Port: 80

Protocol: Same As Ecowitt

  • Server IP / Host Name: wow.meteo.be
  • Path: /api/v2/send?
  • Port: 80

This protocol does not require an ID or authentication key. The station uses its MAC address to identify itself on the WOW platform. If you want to use this protocol, you must provide the MAC address during station registration (this can also be added later).

Example: Eurochron EFWS2900 station + Ecowitt app
We illustrate configuring a “WOW-BE ready” station with a concrete example: the Eurochron EFWS2900 station, distributed by Conrad (it may also be sold by other retailers under different names). For this station, we use the Ecowitt app to set up the upload. For this station—and many others on the market—you can often also use the WS View or WS View Plus apps.
